Hamburg is not only one of Germany’s largest and most welcoming cities, it’s also home to a whole host of annual festivals. With everything from music festivals to celebrations of film and art, you’re sure to find an event to suit your tastes in the city of Hamburg. Built around one of Europe’s most important harbours, Hamburg has long been known as an international city and it’s for this reason that its festivals are especially enticing. No matter what time of the year you choose to visit, you’re sure to find some cultural events to enthral on the streets of Hamburg.
In May of every year, Hamburg celebrates the birthday of its famous harbour with a variety of special events, performances and a ship parade. The party, called the Hafengeburtstag, attracts billions of visitors, all keen to take part in the festivities.
Another of Hamburg’s most famous attractions has to be the Hamburger Dom. This fair is one of the largest in Germany and takes place three times a year, in spring, summer and early winter, and lasts for a month each time. It’s an excellent place to cut loose and spend some time browsing stalls, trying out festive food or testing your bravery on a variety of rides.
